Would you like a week in the Heartland? Are you a working farrier that would like to just get a week of education to get better at this great craft?

Cody and I have worked with and taught farriers at every level for most of our careers. The school has been such an interesting place, and we end up having such a cross section of students. The oldest student I ever had was 68-years of age and the youngest was only 13. We have had one student come for the Journeyman Farrier Course, even though he had been shoeing horses for 35 years. He had to go home every Friday as soon as he was able so that he could shoe his personal horses. But, he had a goal and we helped him get there.

For the working farrier, getting time to go to school is hard. You know how it is. You have to work hard before and after you leave just to keep things even. However, if your trip means that you become a better farrier, then it is well worth your effort. We usually charge $900 a week for people that aren’t after a diploma, just education, but now we have another option for the friends of Heartland Horseshoeing School.

We are starting a new policy around here. If you are a practicing farrier and send us a student that signs up for school, you can have a free week shoeing with us in the Heartland. While the class is in session between March and September, you can pick a week to spend working with us on the parts of shoeing that you want to improve. Whether it is farrier theory, forging, shoeing, or specific goals like going for a certification level, we will help you get there. You can stay for free and use all the coke and steel you want. You just have to get here and bring enough money for whatever food you’ll need for a week.

Our student population is generally comprised of students that are either already in the industry, family members of farriers, or very specifically sent here by their farrier. We rely on the great practitioners in this trade to send us students, so we thought it would be a good idea to give something back to you wonderful folks that are helping us make a living. We thank you, and now this program will be a very direct way of making that thanks mean something. Contact me with any questions, and we look forward to working with you.
